New Book List

I just read a post on one of my favorite crafts/sewing blogs that was a list of recommended reading for the summer.  About half of the books I've read, and loved, so I figure that I will probably like the other books listed.  Then, I started to read all the recommendations from the comments and compiled a long list of books to read this summer.  This list has around 70 or so books in it ... some of them are listed just as a series title, so really the list is probably around 80 books.


After typing up the list, I decided to put the list on here and cross them off as I read them ... maybe do a little review of them.  I happen to go through books pretty quickly.  Usually, I'll read the assigned book for book club within the first week or two of the month and then wait until I get the next one.  So, while I wait, I can pull a book off of this list.


If you have any other suggestions ... please comment and add to it ... I can never have too many books to read!

Thanks for the suggestions. I always need help finding good books. One I just read that I truly enjoyed was 'The Glass Castle.'. Another suggestion given to me was 'The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.'

Looks like you have some book suggestions to add to our book club. :) I'm going to have to look a few of these suggestions up. Oh and if you read "I am Number Four" anytime soon, let me know what you think of it. I've heard it's not very good (from critics) so I was curious what other people think.

Holy Cow, that's alot of books!!! I'm such a slow reader but I enjoy it. I'm currently reading the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini and it is fantastic. Thanks for all the tips on the books though!! I'm always looking for a good one to read!!

85+ Books!

It's been almost a year since I started keeping track of all the books I've read.  When it's all in a list ... by date ... it really makes me realize how much I read!  I burned through almost a book a day in the month of January: 24 books total ... the greatest number of books in one month!  After compiling the list, I figured I may as well share it with all my friends!  I've organized them by genre/topic ... and now I realize I need to branch out more!  Books I read multiple times this year have asterisks. Finished Project Friday: Maryanne's Blessing Dress

(I know it's not really Friday, but I just finished this today and couldn't wait to show ya'll .) I finished Maryanne's blessing dress early! Well, what you would call early for me. When I made Andrew's blessing romper I was pounding in the snaps around the legs and on the back around 9:00 the Saturday night before he was blessed. So, to have Maryanne's dress done a week before her blessing is really good for me. This pattern was a challenge for me because the directions weren't very explicit, but after I did what I was supposed to they totally made sense. And, I forgot how to make button holes, so that was an adventure. This was the first time I've ever used lace on a project, and I'm really pleased with the outcome. You can't see it, but the slip has lace along the bottom edge, and I was supposed to put lace on the collar but opted it out and like it much better that way.
