At the beginning of June, we embarked on a trip to my uncle's cabin in a small town north of Fairview, Utah. He was kind enough to allow us to host Jon's family reunion there. It is a gorgeous cabin, in such a serene setting. Really a fantastic place for a four-day family reunion. We were in charge of the reunion and planned just about everything. I started sending out emails to Jon's siblings and parents in January, and everything came together to make a wonderful reunion Everyone got along well, and all the activities that each family planned (as well as the yummy meals) were so fantastic! *Thanks family for all your hard work!*On the way to the cabin we stopped at Lake Powell to check out the houseboats. On our way to the dock, we passed this huge iron chain link that the children each had to try to lift. At first I though Andrew was just joking at the weight, until I saw each of the children attempt to pick it up, then drop it almost immediately.
Look at the size of that houseboat! It was the largest one we saw, and I couldn't believe how big it was. It looked like a business party boat or something ... made me think of that episode from The Office when Roy and Pam are engaged (isn't that what happens?).
Our little family unit spent a couple days at the cabin before the extended family joined us. We borrowed a friend's trailer and brought all of our bikes, then we went on a short bike ride down the country streets. I saw so many super photo ops with old barns and super cute antique homes, but thought the neighbors would be a little bit offended if I took pictures. So, I satisfied myself with beautiful photos of the gorgeous blue sky, and all the great antique farm equipment my aunt and uncle had on their property.
In all, it was such a great getaway from the modern world ... and made me wish we had a cabin to escape to every weekend.
